The Parallel Universe Nail Art

10 May

Image

Yes, I admit, I am obsessed with the Space nail art, and watching Doctor Who day in and day out doesn’t help in curbing this obsession, only inflaming it further. I had done a space nail art as a part of the Doctor Who Nail Art (look for it in the archives), and so I thought of doing the same with the parallel universe as the theme.

Since I had used blue as a base in the other nail art, I thought of using black in this one, to give the parallel universe a more diabolic feel. The technique is the same, apply a base coat in the beginning, and before it dries, dab on different colours of your choice onto your nail with the help of a sponge so that the result is something like this

Finally, apply a coat of your favourite glitter nail paint to complete the starry look! The best thing about using sponge in your nail art is that you can never go wrong with it, it will look fabulous in the end so long as you have a glittery nail paint at hand!

Leopard Print Nail Art Tutorial

1 May

Be a darling and don’t resort to wearing leopard skin, but you can surely flaunt the chic looking print on your nails guilt-free with this easy tutorial. Here is how to go about it:

  • First of all, apply shades of any pale nail paint that you like, I  have gone with grey and candy pink. After that take a toothpick and flatten its end, to make it less pointed and apply random splashes of alternate shades onto your dried nails

  • After that, apply a black border to those splashes, but leave some space between the border to resemble the leopard print. Once it dries, apply a coat of transparent nail paint and you are done!

Its Spring so it is time to get all bright and shiny, not just with your wardrobe, but also your nails and make-up! Here is a simple and cute nail art which is very easy and time efficient to do, and will go well with any attire you pick, cos it has all the colours that you could possibly wear this Spring!

  • First of all, apply a coat of plain white nail paint, don’t make it too thick, and then let it dry completely
  • Next choose all the bright and cute nail paints you have in your collection, and simply dip the end of a bobby pin in these colours and apply tiny dots onto your nails
  • Let the dots dry completely so that they do not smudge and finish off with a coat of transparent nail paint

Your nails are all set to look like sweet lil candies!

Strip Tease Nail Art

This neon savvy nail art is not only easy to do, it is also pretty sleek and is perfect for a night out! Here is how to go about it:

  • First of all, choose a base nail paint, and make sure that it is a bright or a light one
  • Once the nail paint is completely dry, take some celotape and cut out strips of any width that you prefer. You can also cut out any shape that you like instead of stripes.
  • Stick the stripes onto your nail in any position your prefer and make sure that a length of it the strip is on your nail so that it is easy to pull out when the time comes.

  • Make sure that the base coat has completely dries, cos if that doesn’t happen, the nail paint is bound to smudge under the strips of tape
  • After that paint a coat of a darker shade that goes well with the base coat in contrast. Let the coat dry completely and once it does, pull out the strips of tape carefully
  • Top it off with a transparent coat to give the nail art a smooth look

And you are all set to tease with your strips!

Tip: Make sure that the nail paint is completely dry before you pull off the strips or the nail art will turn out to be messy and not look clear

Newspaper Nail Art

26 Mar

Image

Okay, FYI, its not as difficult as it looks. however, the main item that you will need for this project is rubbing alcohol, or more commonly known as surgical spirit. Trust me, once you have completed this project, you will no longer associate surgical spirit with painful injections! To get this wacky nail art going what you need to do is:

  • First, apply a base coat of which ever coloured nail paint you prefer; remember, it should be light enough to show the print of the newspaper on it. Let the nail paint dry completely, or it could smudge and look messy
  • Cut out strips of any print from the newspaper, and make sure that the strips are wide enough to cover your nail
  • Pour rubbing alcohol in a small bowl, just enough to soak your nail in it
  • Now dip your nail into the bowl of rubbing alcohol, also dip the stripe of newspaper, and then immediately wrap that strip of paper around your nail and press hard for about 20-30 seconds; make sure that the nail and the paper are wet enough and you press it really hard onto the nail for long enough so that the print will stick. if you remove the paper sooner, the print may not be very clear

  • Peal off the paper slowly, and dry your fingers. The print may have gotten onto your skin as well, you can rub it off with acetone
  • Top it off with a coat of transparent nail paint

You’re all set to dazzle!
